SDT 170S+ AVM Ultranalysis
AVM Ultranalysis is a system developed by
SDT for recording ultrasound sound files for training,
maintaining a library of your factory's sounds, and for
further analysis in the TIME and SPECTRUM domain.
The SDT170 captures ultrasonic signals
from machines, bearings, electrical systems, steam
traps, and other factory phenomena. These ultrasound
signals are presented audibly through the 1/4" headphone
jack. Ultrasound inspectors listen to these signals
through noise attenuating headphones. But what if we
could see what we hear?
Ultrasound files are saved as .wav
files by a digital recorder (preferably not MP3) and
uploaded to PC. AVM
Ultranalysis is a sound analysis software with many
features for analyzing .wav files. Ultrasound inspectors
can determine several things now.
For instance, electrical inspectors
can look at the FFT of a captured electrical sound file
and determine if the problem is related to corona or
more serious tracking and arcing. All forms of partial
discharge can be analyzed in this way.
Mechanical inspectors can compare
vibration spectra and ultrasound data to confirm their
diagnosis. This is a great way to determine the
condition of slow speed bearings.
Reciprocating compressor valves can
also be examined using this method. Dirty valves, poorly
seated valves, and valves that are leaking can be
identified.
